LEARNING AND DEVELPOMENT
UNDER THE EARLY YEARS FOUNDATION STAGE
We focus on developing the children's knowledge and skills based on our expertise in child development fully exploring all areas of the EYFS, uniquely integrated with the values of a progressive Jewish and multi-cultural education. We follow a play-based framework, the best way for children of this age to learn. All our activities are planned under the EYFS Three prime areas of learning: Communication and Language, Physical Development, Personal, and Social and Emotional Development.
We also support children in Four specific areas of the EYFS through which the prime areas are strengthened and applied. The specific areas are: Literacy, Mathematics, Understanding of the World and Expressive Arts and Design.
The children work to attain the 'Early Learning Goals' by the time they finish their Reception Year. Each child has a baseline assessment carried out by their key person at the beginning of each year. We measure the older children's progress each term with a summative assessment, the younger children have an EYFS progress check while they are two. Each child has an individual learning journey which they and their parents can share and contribute to. Our curriculum is designed to help the children to progress to the next year of our programme successfully, using a pedagogy which motivates the children to enjoy learning using language, new skills and sticky knowledge. We plan using the ASSESS, PLAN, DO, REVIEW method. A portfolio of photos, significant moments and art work is started so we can all enjoy your child's journey. We love helping you extend your child's learning at home!
Our approach is very creative, using art, craft, music, drama, language and literature. We plan our observational curriculum according to the needs and interests of each individual child. Our staffing ratios are high, all the members of our talented staff team are DBS checked and we practice safer recruitment and on the job mentoring. We work with the children in a caring and nurturing way, encouraging them to become independent learners. We teach listening, negotiation and self-care skills. Development of the children's social skills, confidence and self-esteem are a priority, so they can fulfil their unique potential.
INCLUSION AND SEND (Special Educational Needs and/or Disabilities)
