All our new starters have settled beautifully and are thoroughly enjoying the LJS Nursery experience.
We celebrated the Jewish New Year by making honey cake, due to a popular request we are including the recipe below.
It was a pleasure for the children to enjoy time in the Succah which was built by LJS members. We had a fruit and vegetable recognition session, sang songs and shook the lulav and etrog.
Every week we enjoy Kabbalat Shabbat with the nursey family, visitors are always welcome. We are delighted with our Forest School programme, we harvested a giant pumpkin that we are going to use in our cookery class. Karolina ordered log seats for the children to make us a step closer to nature.
LJS honey cake recipe:
1 lb self-rasing flour
1 cup oil
1 cup sugar
1 small tin Golden Syrup (or honey)
2 tsps ground ginger
1 tsp cinammon
1 tsp mixed spice
1 tsp bicarbonate soda
1 tin boiling water
Sift the dry ingredients together, add the oil, sugar and beaten eggs and mix thoroughly. Add the syrup or honey and finish with a tin of boiling water. Pour into two lined loaf tins. Bake in a medium oven for about 30-45 min until golden brown, springy and cooked in the middle.
